Founder and Executive Director Heather McNett joined WVIA's Community Connection to discuss SAFE's mission, trauma-informed parenting education, supervised visitation, and how SAFE is strengthening families across Bradford and Susquehanna Counties.

When the safety and well-being of children are involved, experience matters.
SAFE is more than a visitation center, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families while protecting children and adult victims of conflict, trauma, and family violence. Our services are built on nationally recognized standards and are designed to provide a structured, safe, and child-focused environment where families can safely maintain important relationships.
Unlike agencies that simply supervise visits, SAFE creates an environment that promotes safety, stability, and positive parent-child interactions. Every member of our team receives specialized training in supervised visitation, trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and child development. Our facilities are intentionally designed with separate entrances, waiting areas, and staggered arrival and departure procedures to prevent contact between parties and reduce risk.
Families trust SAFE because we remain supportive, professional, and committed to the best interests of every child. We create a safe space where court orders can be fulfilled with dignity, accountability, and compassion.
At SAFE, we believe children deserve the opportunity to maintain healthy relationships whenever it can be done safely. That's why every visit, every exchange, and every interaction is guided by one question:
"What is in the best interest of the child?"
